The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, debate in result diffusion of Economic Diplomacy

Share success stories of export companies and strengthen the government post-management
Encourage companies to join economic delegations ... Healthcare • Cultural content must be exported

The nations with promising market that our domestic companies are able to enter are Latin America, including Iran, Myanmar and Mexico. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been greatly helped by participating in the presidential delegation, but it has been pointed out that the government needs to strengthen follow-up management so that local conferences can be exported.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) presented this opinion at an emergency debate meeting held on October 15 to promote economic diplomacy with the president. The meeting was attended by vice chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Choi Sung-hwan, senior vice president of the Korea Export-Import Bank, CEO of the Korea Creative Content Agency, Song Sung-gak, CEO of Keyyang Precision, Chung Byungkee, CEO of Doctor Supply, Ahn Seung-Kyu.

◆ Iran, Myanmar and Mexico

Participants selected Latin America, including Iran, Myanmar and Mexico, as promising candidates. "Iran is favorable to Korean companies that have not left their countries during economic sanctions and war," he said. "We will be able to make joint ventures in the fields of urban renewal, automobiles, home appliances and textiles, "He said.

"Myanmar has a domestic market of 60 million people and is rich in cheap labor," he said. "It will be used as a production base for these markets adjacent to China and India."

Song said, "K-pop has secured a strong youth fan base in Latin America, including Brazil and Mexico." In addition, demand for online and mobile games in Korea is on the rise due to the growth of wireless Internet in Central and South America. "

However, it was pointed out that it should be improved. Chung said, "The government should support the one-on-one conferences through post management after returning to the delegation so that the one-on-one conferences lead to export and other achievements." "If we can collect the success stories and provide them to companies, it will help us to establish strategies for overseas expansion."

Ahn said, "The information on local companies isn’t shared immediately until counseling meeting is almost started. If the period is reduced, it will be helpful to us. Also, because of the characteristics of SMEs, they are often vulnerable to foreign languages, so local interpretation services are also important.”

The vice chairman stressed that "30 ~ 40% of midsize and medium-sized enterprises participating in the mission are experiencing more than one occasion." He emphasized, "We should encourage new companies to come forward by actively promoting the performance of the mission." .

◆ Focus on large-scale infrastructure projects

Major businesses to focus on when the president travels abroad include large infrastructure projects, health care, and cultural contents. "It takes a lot of time and effort to establish a large-scale project like the infrastructure project, and we also need high-level contacts," he said. "The president's tour is a good opportunity to meet this condition."

Choi said, "Most of the infrastructure development is being led by governments in developing countries," he said. "Building government-level strategic partnerships through sales diplomacy will help companies win."

Song has advised that cultural content, the main character of the Korean Wave craze, should be put to the fore. "The large Korean wave festival hosted by CJ E & M will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE," he said. "It will be a great help to export cultural contents to Iran and other Middle East regions."
